July 2020 Plans

Some new Blender projects

A short post for a short month

With the half way mark of the month already been here and gone I don’t plan for much to be produced this month. I am just going to enjoy myself.

A few things that is going on:

  • Working on weight loss, recently getting into running a bit again after a long hiatus of demoviation to get back into it. Also enjoying some longer walks whilst up in Yorkshire during these surreal times.
  • Had a week off (w/c 12th July) and was on the computer for roughly 1 hour the whole time.
  • Spending a lot of time on Blender recently, the Ferrari 488 GT being the most labour intensive model I’ve attempted to date. Also playing around with a few other areas:
    • Interstallar like black hole,
    • Filming a few local things to try my hand at VFX (this is proving a lot harder as I am unfamiliar with this Blender workflow),
    • Bought the Veikk A15 Pro graphics tablet and plan to work on some more sculpting (since character models are some of the more fun things to work on, albeit difficult given our familiarity with human faces),
    • Had a go with the fluid simulator again but find it cumbersome to work with in Blender,
  • Also had a bit of fun with Audacity with voice manipulation:
    • Recreated a voice clip from one of my favourite video game series, Metal Gear Solid,
    • Paid tribute to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks (one of my favourite TV shows)
  • The Formula 1 season started again and I have enjoyed watching both races so far on Channel 4 highlights, about to watch the Hungarian grand prix next.
  • Studying for the CP1 exam in September (2 x 3 hour exam, largely non-technical and seems a giant memory test).
  • Watched Dark Season 3 (one of my top TV shows, very satsifying to see they didn’t trip themselves up finishing off the story) and a few films whilst off for the week.
  • Downloaded Fruity Loops Studio (trial version) to potentially create my own music. The trial version is equivalent to the full version except there is no option to save and continue editing your work in the trial version.

That’s it. Here are the work in progress files.

  1. Interstallar inspired black hole
  1. Burning paper … nothing to do with work
  1. Audio recordings from Audacity (using a terrible mono-channel headset)

and

  1. Attempt at sculpting again - Mos Eisley Cantina Musician …
  1. SR71 Blackbird, US Military plane - a quick reference model I attempted
